- Oh, Michael, you have had a rough way to go lately. Just keep plugging along and I promise it will get better. Wes and I are both getting kind of nervous as the date approaches. I asked Wes if he regrets his decision and he says he doesn't, it is just nerves about the unknown. I know he will be brilliant!

My son is going into my ANG unit. He leaves for basic July 7th. He is a senior this year. He finishes up basic around Labor Day weekend, then he goes to Shepherd, then to Dover, then back to Martinsburg, W.V. for the rest of his training. Then in the fall of 2010, he goes to Morgantown to WVU, and the Air Guard is paying 100% of his tuition. A good deal.

I know you can’t wait to give that girl a big hug. Just make sure you follow all the rules that they tell you at orientation ;-)
By the way you ask me a question about Tech school and I don’t think I gave you an answer. He was in Tech school just over 4 months. But each career field’s school will be different. I hope you have heard how long her school be by now but if not she may know when you see her at graduation.

Lori Kaye Gaboury said… - Michael took his cell phone with him to Basic Training. It was locked up when he arrived and he got it back on Friday morning before graduation! We took his laptop down with us and he was able to use it right away at Tech School. How are you doing?

- Michael, Thank you for welcoming me to the site. Graduation weekend was one of the most remarkable weekends I have spend in my life!! From the moment I saw my Michael first at the Airman's Run until we left him on Tuesday nite are memories that I will hold dear for the rest of my life. I am also a member on another site that gave wonderful tips for graduation weekend. bmtgrad.com. I found wonderful advice there and can help you if you like with any of your plans. Michael is in Security Forces Tech School now and that is at Lackland. We stayed off base Wed-Sat nite at the Comfort Suites by Seaworld (only a 10 minute drive to the base). However, Sunday nite we moved to the Gateway Inn on base. We were able to see Michael at the BX Monday and Tuesday nites after class. If I had to do it all over again I would definitely stay at at Gateway Inn for the weekend.
I know you are missing Stephanie alot now. I found that writing to Michael everyday really helped me. I just found simple things to say (not too serious). He sent 127 letters home when I left San Antonio. He loved getting letters from everyone at home!
Once you start planning your trip to Graduation the time will speed by. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

- I am so glad she got to call you. It must have been such a thrill to hear her voice. So you have made it about a week already, not bad...she'll be out before you know it and you will get to give her a big graduation hug!

- Michael, Have you heard from Stephanie, yet? I feel like I am having a preview of what I will go through by hearing your experience. The recruiter told me that the first phone call will really only be long enough to give us his address, so I wonder if we get much info on their experience so far. Have you considered a journal? Something that lets you express anything and everything you are feeling. No one will see it, so you can be 100% honest. When I have trouble with something, I do this and I find I can sleep better knowing that it is all on paper and I can come back to it later. Keeps me from thinking about it all night. Lesa
