Graduation December 31, 2009

Wow, graduation was so special. My sister, my daughter and my son's girlfriend went with me. I actually got to the point of declaring that I was tired of crying. Wes was an honor graduate. You can imagine the pride I felt! He was also in the band, which was so neat. I can't believe the ways he has changed and the ways he has stayed exactly the same. I just don't know what else to say. Everyone reading this has either experienced what I just experienced or will only understand once they have been… Continue

Graduation Date

Ok, so if BMT is 8 1/2 weeks and Wesley leaves on November 3, that puts his graduation on New Year's weekend. Any thoughts? I mean, sure, my sister and I celebrating New Years together (for the first time in many many years) in San Antonio can only mean fun (and possibly trouble) but will they actually hold graduation over the holiday, or will it be delayed, or what?

I visited my local used bookstore (managed by my best friend) and got a couple of books on the F 15. I figured I should read as m… Continue

Finally, A Date

Wes finally got his leave date yesterday. He goes on November 3 and his job will be F15 Avionics. I am so glad he will not be in San Antonio in the summer. He wouldn't mind, but I just can't stand that kind of heat!! A couple of weeks ago, the local recruiters got together and had a big send-off party for all the new recruits who would be leaving over the next few months. All the branches were there and the recruits were introduced. A bunch of local business donated stuff for gift packs for the… Continue

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I really enjoyed them. Tell Wes congragulations on making honor grad. I know how proud you are about that. Grant made honor grad also. I was so surprised becasue in school he would do just enough to get by. Where does your son go to tech school?

Thank you! No official word, but for the job he has been assigned, the usual next step is 4 months at Keesler and 4 months at Sheppard.

Wow I can't think of a better way to start the new year than seeing your son graduate! Hope you have a safe trip and good driving weather. Where does your son go next?

Well, Wesley is in week 5 now. I got to talk to him on Thanksgiving Day and it was wonderful! He is very homesick, but doing well. I made my hotel reservation for graduation. I'm not looking forward to the drive, though. Mapquest says it will take 15 hours, but a student I know from TX says to expect closer to 20 hours. My sister is going with me to help drive and, well, help party in San Antonio for New Year's! My daughter and my son's girlfriend are also going. It is going to be wonderful! I can't wait.

Hi Lesa, Haven't been here in a while. But wanted to say hi to you. I see Wes leaves in Nov.. Steph is doing great. She is working on the planes now. And I can't be more proud of her and her choice in joining. And, she has had a great attitude about it.I did get to drive out to Ca.with her, when she left Dover and came home. We had a great time. We stopped by the Grand Canyon. It's awesome if you ever get the chance to go. We talk on the phone or Instant message each other all the time. It's like she is not even gone. She said she may be able to come home after the holidays. Cya.... Mark

I have not, but I haven't asked my recruiter. New Years is fine by me, I'm anxious to get to NAVSCOEOD at Eglin.

I come from a long line of proud military men, from all branches. When I got sick of working in the IT industry, it just kind of made sense. I needed some excitement and to get out of Dallas, plus I get to blow stuff up for a living.
