I'm originally from Lodi, Ca. I joined the Air Force in Feb 2000 and have been loving it ever since. I started out as an F-16 Crew Chief and a couple of years ago moved over to the Predator. I've got lots of TDY's, several deployements, and a short tour under my belt. I currently live in Las Vegas, Nv. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I am a airman
What were your feelings when your Airman joined the Air Force?
I was very excited when I joined. I wanted to get out into the world and start my life on the right track. I couldn't have made a better choice. I will say that the first morning when I woke up in basic, I thought I was in the middle of a bad nightmere, though.
Derek, “Welcome to the Blue”. I am glad that you have joined us. I started Air Force Dads to help support and encourage parents and family members, girlfriends and boyfriends, of young men and woman who have or are going to join the Air Force. Please feel free to look around the site and get involved with the groups and discussions that are going on. Maybe start one of your own. I have two sons and both of them are in the military. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago, and is stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB N.C. Thank you for you service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet.
I served in the Air Force from 1971 to 1975. I was a weapons mechanic on the F-4 during the Vietnam War. I was at Kadena AB on Okinawa and at CCK AB on Taiwan. Even though it was a while ago I recall having the same thought about basic. I think that everybody has a moment during basic when they ask themselves, “What have gotten myself into?”
Once again I am glad you are with us and I hope folks will ask their questions and I am very glad that you are willing to help answer those questions.
